Good morning Hoggers

I have a we yarn. On the 16.1.2021 Myself Shane Wilson, partner Katt McQueen, my father Ron Wilson and mates Simon Smith and Rodgers Set, put on a ballot hunt in our local pine forest. We had some entertainment when we landed a 65-pound sow. Yum-yum, pork on the back. My partner Katt got to it with me to hold the back wheels, whoop-whoop so Simon stick it and dragged back to road.

We set of again and about an hour later the dogs jumped off the deck and move up the hill through the pine slash. “Shhhh”, was that a bark Katt? is bell barking? Yes, yes she is says the GPS, 260m up the hill. Phew!

There’s a road right around and as I drive around not looking at GPS, getting my team to tell me when to stop. I pulled up 10m past the pig being held, jumped out of the truck to the smell of instant boar stank. No noise. Where is it? One blow from the pig and it’s right there near me. Boom! I’m down the bank and grab a hold of the back wheels. I called for my 75 year old dad. He comes down the bank and now he’s got the back legs. Whoop-whoop. It was the first good pig that dad has held so he was over the moon and still is.

Simon couldn’t get his knife out of his pouch because the sows blood had glued it in, so I pulled my knife out and stuck it. Woah! The whole team of dogs were exited, we had a mum and dad find and hold this pig with their son Chase to help hold when we got him there.

Wicked as, a 147.5 pound Southland boar down Clyde with a vet bill from this boars 2 inch even hooks tagging one of the dogs. He is recovering well at home and getting plenty of attention. We love hunting as much as our dogs do. Clean hog hunters is our team name and we managed to catch 111 pigs for our team in 2020. We are up 6 so far this year with this boar and a 135 pound boar to start this year. Gotta love when a plan comes together.

We trained our team of dogs from pups with no help from anyone’s dogs. All the hard yards were put in to them.

I love it in Southland, with our wild team. Bring on any more hogs for our dogs and many more memories for my 75 year old dad. Last year we stacked a 200.5 pound boar, biggest for our team to date and yes dad was there but not when the action went down. He had a carry anyway. Thankyou dad for being that positive father getting out there with us to be in the action Southland wild man out there doing it.
