Shaun was born and raised in the swine free South Westland rain forest country where, from a young age outdoor adventures became a big part of his world including fishing, wait baiting, jet boating, and red deer hunting. He moved to the east side of the South Island for university and that’s where he was introduced to wild pig hunting with dogs for the first time. More than a couple of decades and four generations of pig dogs later he still doesn’t lay claim to being a pig hunter. It’s more of an affliction that he can’t seem to shake off. Shaun works in the agricultural industry helping to develop new pasture options for farmers. Although he enjoys a fair bit of pig hunting, he still actively pursues other big game animals on offer in New Zealand and in recent times has taken to photography and filming of hunting adventures which you can find posted on his ‘NZWILDTHINGS’ YouTube channel.

John is 64 years young and still going strong, over the years he has encountered plenty of hogs… AND MAYBE a few more critters even us kiwi’s wouldn’t hunt around.

Georgie is a southern las who has a keen eye behind the lens and a sharp tooth for hunting pigs. Georgie and her side kicks have been harassing the pig population since she was a critter. You’ll see her at some of the southern comps having a few jars and weighing in some impressive hogs. Georgie is new to the Hooked On Boars team but has supported the magazine for years with sending in articles and photos of her adventures so we thought we’d make her a part of the furniture.
