My name is Sondre, I am Harry & Hyltons youngest brother and I am 10 years old. I live in the North Island, the home of the Waikato Chiefs! Mum and I went to Christchurch a while back and the boys took Hunting and Fishing.
We went through the bush and near the river looking for opossums.
It was kind of scary but really cool because I got to shoot a 22 on the back of Harrys truck, it took 2 shots to get my first one and one shot for the second opossum which Harry and Hylton shone torches at to blind it.
When I lifted the opossum up from the tail, I felt gross because I thought it had pooh on it, but there was nothing. It was a cold night but I warmed up fast when the truck stopped. I caught a rabbit as well. We went home really late, mum was worried she waited for us. I had to put the animals in the freezer before going in the house.
On my second day with my brothers we went to the Rakaia river for a fish, the water was nice and blue, it was cold. I didn’t catch a fish but I had the best fun with my big brothers.
I hope I can go back and do some more hunting and fishing with them during the Christmas school holidays.
